Nick has extensive experience of the Guernsey property market gained over the last 40 years, initially in residential sales but then progressing to all aspects and types of property management.

Over the years, Nick has broadened his skill base but now focuses on property management both residential and commercial. Additionally, residential and commercial property lettings feature high on his agenda.

Born locally and schooled at Elizabeth College with further education in Leicester, he worked in the UK for a number of years prior to returning to Guernsey.

Nick set up, in 2004, the company that proudly bears his name and has over the past 12 years seen steady growth in his client base and property portfolio.

In his spare time, you will find Nick playing golf (badly) or pottering around in his garden and greenhouse.

Nick Brett Property Limited (“the Company”) is committed to maintaining the privacy and security of personal information which the Company collects from you being our clients and contacts.

This Privacy Statement is a statement of policy and, save for those rights and obligations set out in the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017, it does not establish or create any additional user rights or any further obligations.

Who are we?
The Company is a Property Management business.

Client Information
The Company treats all information it receives from clients as confidential and does not use the information for any purpose other than to fulfill its obligations to its clients. It keeps client information secure at all times and does all it can to prevent the misuse and unauthorized disclosure of it by the Company’s employees or any third parties. Whenever our clients give us any personal data they are consenting to its collection and use in accordance with this privacy policy. For the avoidance of doubt, the Company will not, and never shall, sell any personal data to third parties for any purpose.

How the Law protects you
Data protection laws state that the Company is only able to process personal data if it has a valid reason to do so. The basis for processing personal data includes, but is not limited to, consent from the client concerned, performance of a contract, to enable billing and remittance and to contact the client for customer service purposes.

Your rights
Each client can request access to the personal information that the Company holds on that party. The Company will correct any information that is inaccurate or incomplete, change consent status or have personal information deleted subject to any legal retention period this within 48 hours of the Company being advised accordingly.

Email addresses and communication
The Company may have personal email addresses in its email system. The Company uses emails as a means of communicating to its clients.

Personal Information Security
The Company is committed to keeping personal data secure and will take all reasonable precautions to protect all personal information from loss, misuse or alteration. This data is stored on the Company’s internal computers which are protected by firewalls and other appropriate security mechanisms.

Legal Obligations
Under certain circumstances permitted or required by law (for example, in connection with law enforcements investigations), the Company may be required to disclose client data or personal information without giving notice.

What type of data does the Company collect from you?
The personal data that the Company collects from you and your employees, customers, suppliers and any other individuals or businesses associated with you includes names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, employee information, payment information and IP addresses. The Company may also retain records of your queries and correspondence directed to it.

How does the Company use your data?

  • to provide you with products and services
  • to comply with the Company’s contractual obligations, whether in writing or verbal, that the Company has with you
  • to help the Company identify you
  • to enable the Company to review, develop and improve its services provided to you as a client
  • to provide customer care including responding to your requests should you have a query
  • to administer accounts , process payments and receipts and keep track of billing and payments
  • to detect fraud and to ensure that what you as a client has told the Company is correct
  • to review job applications if so requested
  • to notify you about changes to the Company and its services
  • to inform you of service and price changes

Retention periods
The Company will keep your personal data for the duration of the period that you remain a client of the Company. The Company shall retain your personal data only for as long as necessary in accordance with the applicable laws. Upon the closure of your account or when your relationship with the Company ends, the Company may keep your data for up to seven years thereafter. The Company may not be able to delete your data before this time due to the Company’s legal and/or accountancy obligations. The Company will ensure that your personal data shall only be used for the purposes stated within this Privacy Statement.

Changes to this Privacy Statement
The Company reserves the right to modify and update this policy and its related business practices at any time. Therefore, the Company would ask you to review this Privacy Policy on a regular basis.
